No. 2 Clemson will hit the road to take on Syracuse as the Tigers look to continue their roll back to a third-straight national championship appearance. Will the Orange stand in their way? Let’s find out
Clemson: It’s been quite a season for the defending national champions, which have picked up some decisive wins in their lone road games at Louisville (47-21) and at Virginia Tech (31-17). What that means for Syracuse on a short week, however, is anyone’s guess. Quarterback Kelly Bryant, who was knocked out of the Wake Forest game with an injury, practiced all week and is “ready to roll,” according to coach Dabo Swinney. The Tigers’ offense should get theirs; the question is whether the defense will be able to stop the tempo of the Orange.
Syracuse: Though ‘Cuse has not had the success it had hoped to achieve early in coach Dino Babers’ second season, its offense has seen an upswing since his arrival. The Orange are ranked No. 72 in the CBS Sports 130 and held tough in losses at LSU (35-26) and at NC State (33-25). They are also coming off a 27-24 win over Pittsburgh just last week.
